Each Habsburgo piece is a work of art conceived to transcend time and become an emblem of your personal legacy. To ensure its beauty and longevity for generations to come, we recommend following these principles of care and maintenance.

1. General Principles of Daily Care

Prevention is the most important aspect of caring for fine jewelry.

  • The Finishing Touch: Your jewelry should be the last thing you put on when dressing and the first thing you take off. This minimizes exposure to cosmetics, perfumes, and hairsprays, whose chemicals can damage metals and gemstones.
  • Avoid Contact with Chemicals: Never expose your jewelry to household cleaning products, chlorine (in swimming pools or jacuzzis), saltwater, or any other corrosive substances.
  • Physical Activities: Remove your jewelry before engaging in any physical activity, sports, household chores, or gardening. Impacts, even minor ones, can chip gemstones and deform metals.
  • Heat and Sunlight Exposure: Prolonged exposure to direct sunlight or extreme temperature changes can alter the color of certain gemstones, such as opals and turquoise.

2. Proper Storage

When you are not wearing your jewelry, correct storage is essential to prevent damage.

  • Individual Separation: Store each piece separately to prevent them from scratching one another. Harder gemstones, like diamonds, can easily scratch metals and other softer stones.
  • Original Case: The original Habsburgo case has been designed to optimally protect your piece. We recommend its use as the primary storage method.
  • Controlled Environment: Store your jewelry in a dry place, away from humidity and excessive heat.

3. Cleaning and Maintenance

A. Professional Recommendation (Preferential)

For deep cleaning, polishing, or any type of maintenance, we strongly recommend using the services of a qualified professional jeweler. For the optimal care of your Habsburgo creations, we invite you to contact our customer service to coordinate a professional maintenance service at our workshops.

B. Careful At-Home Cleaning

If you wish to perform a light cleaning at home, it is crucial to distinguish between material types.

  • For Precious Metals (Gold, Platinum) and Hard Gemstones (Diamond, Sapphire, Ruby):

    1. Prepare a solution of lukewarm water and a few drops of a mild, neutral soap that is free of detergents, fragrances, or ammonia.
    2. Briefly immerse the piece (no more than one minute).
    3. Use a very soft-bristled brush (such as a new baby toothbrush) to gently clean hard-to-reach areas, like underneath the gemstones.
    4. Rinse with clean, lukewarm water.
    5. Dry the piece completely with a soft, lint-free microfiber cloth.
  • For Silver: Silver can tarnish. Use a specific, high-quality silver polishing cloth to restore its shine. Avoid contact between the cloth and any gemstones.

  • WARNING for Delicate and Porous Gemstones (Emerald, Opal, Pearl, Turquoise, Lapis Lazuli, Malachite, Agate):

    • These gemstones are extremely sensitive to chemicals, water, and temperature changes.
    • NEVER immerse these pieces in soapy water.
    • NEVER use ultrasonic cleaners, as the vibrations can cause fractures in emeralds and opals.
    • Clean these pieces ONLY by gently wiping them with a clean, dry microfiber cloth.
